Join IDAMFT

Becoming a member of IDAMFT is accomplished by joining the national organization, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). To join AAMFT visit the website at: www.aamft.org. For a list of membership requirements see the AAMFT website or click here.

Membership is available in one of four categories:

Clinical - for state licensed marriage and family therapists. Clinical Members meet the full set of requirements established by AAMFT and the state of Idaho for independent practice of marriage and family therapy.

Associate - for professionals new to the field of marriage and family therapy. Associate members have completed a graduate degree in marriage and family therapy or a related mental health field and are in the process of earning the clinical experience necessary for AAMFT Clinical Membership and/or licensure as a marriage and family therapist.

Student - for individuals currently enrolled in programs leading to a graduate or post-graduate degree in marriage and family therapy or a related mental health field.

Affiliate Membership - Affiliate Membership is the ideal membership opportunity for the mental health professional who wants to connect with the MFT profession, and stay up-to-date on the latest research, news, and clinical developments in the marriage and family therapy profession, but does not want to pursue MFT licensure or Clinical Membership. This membership category is non-clinical; therefore, the AAMFT does not review the credentials of applicants.
