Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for considering becoming an active member in your professional organization.  We are a small group of volunteers and we always welcome participation. IDAMFT was built by a few MFTs who wanted to practice in Idaho and sought the legal ability to do so.  Because of their efforts we have a presence in the state of Idaho and it is volunteers who continue to assure that we as MFTs are able to practice and make a living in our state.  There are no paid positions at the state level.  All suggestions are welcome; we try to meet the needs of our members in the best way possible.

We have a number of active committees. Here is a description of each one the activities they are responsible for:

LPPC – The legislative arm.  This committee looks at the state and national laws and regulations that impact the MFT profession.  They lobby at the state and national level for increased inclusiveness and greater visibility of our profession.  Dr. Shawn Thurber is the committee chairperson.

Conference Committee – The educational arm.  This committee is responsible for the conception, organization and execution of the offering of quality education for MFTs in the state of Idaho.  They put on the annual conference, which by the way provides us with a large percentage of our operating funds.  Kristi Fowler is the committee chairperson.

Membership Committee - The communication arm.  This committee welcomes new members and recruits new members. They provide a link between the members and the Board.  Dr. Jill Mitchell is the Committee chairperson.

Our work tends to happen in spurts. At times it may be that there is not much to do, and then it gets so busy we have a difficult time organizing around the need.  So if you will have patience with us and check in regularly this is very helpful.
